Microsculpture, a unique photographic study of insects, is a groundbreaking collaboration between award-winning photographer Levon Biss and the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. The museum’s renowned entymology collection contains the world’s oldest pinned insect specimens – items collected by pioneering Victorian explorers and biologists such as Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace.

Each breathtakingly detailed photograph is comprised of approximately 8,000 individual images – a painstaking process where Biss lights and photographs segments of the specimen, then combines them to spectacular effect.

The vivid colours, unusual features, and never-before-seen details of the insects in Microsculpture capture the true wonders of nature and science.
