SFX Eczema by Sun Lee & Victoria Poland

Sun Lee teams up with SFX makeup artist Vic Poland again to create eczema from scratch – nobody had to show up and live it under lights.

Starting with reference images, Vic sculpted the flare-ups in Chavant clay, then created a silicone mould from these. Vic used a material called Probondo to fill the mould – it is very quick to apply on the day (like a transfer) but can take up to a few days to set. This material allows for movement due to its durability. Colour was stippled in thin layers to get that deeply inflamed look under the surface rather than painted on top.

Sun’s raking light catches every raised edge and every split, showing the inflammation in all its brutal starkness. Everything you’re looking at was made by hand. The skin is fake. What it’s telling you isn’t.
